Utku Dedetaş was born in 1996 in Ankara. He completed his undergraduate studies in Industrial Design at Istanbul Bilgi University between 2014 and 2020. In 2024, he earned his master of fine arts degree from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Department of Basic Art and Design.
Between 2017 and 2023, he worked in various fields as an illustrator, industrial designer, and storyboard artist. Since 2019, he has been creating as an independent artist in Istanbul. As of 2024, he has been working as a lecturer at Istanbul Bilgi University’s Department of Industrial Design.
In his art, focusing on dreams, memories, and social encounters in everyday life, Dedetaş aims to find intersections of our realities and make them visible. By exploring the collision and alignment of memories, he builds bridges of magical realism between collective memory and personal narratives.

Utku is a contemporary artist whose painterly & mixed-media approach captivates audiences with its profound exploration of the art of trapped souls. With a keen focus on individuals, society, and encounters around, utku delves into the depths of both light and dark corners of life, revealing the intricate expression found within even the most overlooked details.
Using a diverse range of materials and techniques (such as oil paints, pastels and pixels) for his painterly approach, Utku tells stories, inviting viewers to contemplate the complex dynamics of human relationships and the impact of societal constructs. Through intricate compositions and surreal symbolism, he captures the essence of shared experiences, reflecting the collective struggles, hopes, and dreams of individuals in contemporary society.
